Business Developer

Lisbon

Broadway Malyan is looking for a Business Developer to join our Lisbon studio and support the continued growth of our business in Portugal and across our wider international practice.

This is an opportunity for someone at an early stage in their career who is commercially curious, organised and confident working with people. You’ll work closely with our design, business development and leadership teams, helping us understand where opportunities are emerging, build strong relationships and position the practice for new work.

The role

The role brings together market intelligence, relationship building and opportunity coordination, with the chance to develop a broad understanding of how an international design practice grows and wins work.

Business development

• Research and identify potential clients, sectors and new business opportunities
• Build an understanding of our key markets and help track emerging opportunities
• Support the development of client and partner relationships
• Maintain an active view of the Lisbon studio’s business development pipeline

Opportunities + bids

• Coordinate new opportunities from initial identification through to submission
• Work with our bid and design teams to help shape proposals, presentations and tender responses
• Track key deadlines, requirements and actions across live opportunities
• Help ensure the right experience, people and project credentials are brought together for each opportunity

Market presence

• Contribute to client engagement, networking, events and wider business development activity
• Work with our marketing and communications teams to help strengthen our presence in Portugal
• Help keep project experience, credentials and market-facing material relevant and up to date

About you

We’re looking for someone who is curious about business, design and the built environment, and keen to develop their career in business development.

You’ll ideally bring:

• 1–3 years’ relevant experience
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Confidence engaging with colleagues, clients and external partners
• A proactive approach and an interest in identifying and developing opportunities
• Fluency in Portuguese and English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, is an advantage
• An interest in architecture, cities and the wider built environment
