Planning consent secured for Camden Film Quarter in London, including 485 BM Stitch designed homes
16th June 2026

50% of new homes will be affordable

Planning consent was granted on 15 June 2026 by the London Borough of Camden for Camden Film Quarter, the major mixed-use regeneration project in north London being delivered by Yoo Capital. The first phase of the scheme includes 485 homes designed by Broadway Malyan’s housing studio, BM Stitch, for Places for People.

Designed to respond to their distinct surroundings, the two residential schemes will create complementary neighbourhoods.

Located next to the Kentish Town Conservation Area, Inkerman Gardens adopts a landscape-led approach that draws inspiration from the character of the surrounding residential streets. Tree-lined routes, communal gardens and generous green spaces are combined with carefully crafted architecture, including curved brick balconies and finely detailed façades that reflect the area's historic character.

To the north of the site, Heathgate occupies a prominent gateway location with views towards Hampstead Heath. The development is characterised by a series of contemporary buildings featuring folded façades and articulated glazed elements that maximise daylight and views while establishing a distinctive architectural identity.

The two developments share a commitment to tenure-blind design, ensuring that affordable and market homes are indistinguishable in quality and material expression. The result is a cohesive, socially balanced neighbourhood, underpinned by a focus on sustainability, placemaking, and design integrity.

As part of its social value commitment to the project, BM Stitch is sponsoring a Camden student through the London Neighbourhood Scholarship Trust (LNS), the charity established by Sally Lewis, Principal at BM Stitch, to promote greater diversity within the built environment industry The LNS provides financial support and mentoring to young people from London studying architecture in the capital. Scholarships are targeted at those with the greatest financial need and who demonstrate the most potential to succeed on their course. The scholar was chosen jointly by BM Stitch and Places for People.

"Securing resolution to grant planning for these homes is an important step in delivering the wider vision for Camden Film Quarter. The residential element has been carefully designed to complement the broader regeneration project providing much needed homes for Camden and creating two residential quarters which contribute to a thriving new mixed-use neighbourhood in Kentish Town. BM Stitch is proud to have created two distinctive residential schemes set within generous gardens, each responding to local context and character. The approval demonstrates how housing can play a central role in major regeneration projects, delivering not only new homes but also great streets, embedded social value, and long-term benefits for the wider area."

"Camden Film Quarter is much more than a film studio development. It is a complete creative ecosystem that brings together production, education, employment, homes, culture and public space within a single integrated vision."
