8th September 2021

A new landmark hotel designed by Broadway Malyan and aimed at the thriving millennial market has opened its doors in Lisbon.

The Moxy Lisboa Oriente, which has been developed for Krest Real Investments, was completed at the end of 2020 and has now opened to guests following the easing of Covid restrictions in Portugal.

Broadway Malyan provided both architectural and interior design services for the the 15-storey hotel project, which is located in the popular Parque das Nações district in the east of the city, providing views across the river and the famous Vasco da Gama Bridge.

The highly contemporary design approach for the hotel combines reflects the disruptive influence of the millennial generation with its distinctive façade and its playful interior design aesthetic.

At the heart of the scheme is a vibrant lobby that is overlooked by a mezzanine with a range of multi-space rooms including a gym, plug in room and meetings spaces, all integrated but separate and designed to provide guests with a range of work-play environments depending on their needs.

Broadway Malyan director Margarida Caldeira, who led the design team on the project, said: “Marriott’s Moxy brand is a really exciting new offer that has been making headlines in recent years with some exceptional new hotels across the world, so it was incredibly exciting to have the opportunity to add our own stamp to the brand.

“This project really challenged us to embrace the needs and expectations of a generation that often thinks differently about life and the result is a hotel that is full of surprises, has a huge amount of character and brings something completely fresh to the Lisbon hotel sector.”
