Situated between two of Broadway Malyan's past masterplanning projects – Yas Island and Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi – this distinctive natural island is being transformed into a unique destination that blends high-quality residential accommodation, proximity to nature and an active waterfront lifestyle.
The masterplan includes over 940,000 sqm of green space, 11 km of scenic coastline, and world-class amenities such as beach clubs, wellness centre, international schools, and a range of waterfront venues and activities.
Al Fahid Island will offer a mix of residential, retail and commercial spaces, including villas, apartments and townhouses, all designed to support a healthy, active way of life. A vibrant 2 km mixed-use waterfront promenade and 4.6 km of beaches will provide residents and visitors with seamless access to the water and an outdoor leisure experience, anchored by a signature tower designed by renowned architect Kengo Kuma.
Broadway Malyan played a central role in shaping the design direction of the development, working closely with our long-standing partner, Aldar, to deliver a comprehensive and cohesive outcome. Building on an initial vision provided by the client, we refined and enhanced the concept to ensure alignment with the site's unique context, urban strategy goals and development ambitions.
Our scope covered the full spectrum of design services, from vision validation and concept development through to detailed masterplan design. We were also actively involved throughout the planning application process and in coordinating with relevant authorities to secure the necessary planning approvals, ensuring a clear and implementable roadmap for the project’s delivery.
Sustainability is central to the project, which is set to become the first island in the world to achieve a Fitwel 3-Star Rating. It has also been pre-certified at Platinum level under LEED for Cities and Communities, demonstrating global leadership in sustainable urban development. In addition, it holds an Estidama 3 Pearl Community Rating, reflecting its alignment with Abu Dhabi’s highest sustainability standards.
