Originally conceived as a digital series of YouTube roundtables, the forum quickly revealed a strong appetite for collaborative, multidisciplinary dialogue. Building on this early success, a partnership was formed in 2022 with Roca Madrid Gallery, transforming the initiative into a curated, in-person programme. The new format introduced an annual cycle of five thematic sessions, each focusing on a key sector, including residential, hospitality, office, retail and mixed-use.

In 2023, the Think Tank evolved further with the introduction of the IE – BM Madrid Think Tank, co-organised with the IE School of Architecture and Design and hosted at Roca Madrid Gallery. By combining the analytical depth of academia with professional design expertise, the forum continues to foster inclusive and thought-provoking discussions.

In June 2025, our Madrid studio celebrated its 25th anniversary with a special edition of the Think Tank, where we announced plans to expand the forum globally. Titled “New Design Narratives”, the event explored the training and skills needed to deliver design services in an era of rapid change and technological advancement.

The Think Tank debuts in Singapore in July 2025, marking the initiative’s first presence in Asia. As a global leader in sustainable development, innovative urban policy and cultural heritage, Singapore offers a unique setting for international dialogue that remains rooted in the local context.

What began as a local initiative in Madrid is now growing into an international network. The Think Tank has become a vital part of Broadway Malyan’s knowledge sharing strategy, fostering critical thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration and creativity across regions. We look forward to sharing more as the forum evolves, connecting our studios and partners around the world to shape the future of design together.
