Plans launched for major new office campus in Lisbon
1st July 2018

Broadway Malyan has designed two new buildings for a major office campus in Lisbon that will accommodate more than 7,000 workers.

EXEO Office Campus is the first office development by AVENUE and is near the site of the Expo world trade fair that came to Lisbon in 1998. It will include three major office buildings with a combined 69,000 sqm of office space across 13,000 sqm of landscaped gardens.

Broadway Malyan has designed two of the three office buildings on the development, AURA and ECHO.

The seven-storey ECHO is the largest of the two Broadway Malyan-designed buildings with 20,906sqm of office space and an additional 672sqm of retail space and has been designed with gazed facades with horizontal shading blades in a champagne tone.

The U-shaped building also has four rooftop gardens as well as a central plaza marking the building’s main entrance, all of which have been landscaped by Broadway Malyan.

The 11-storey AURA has 16,500sqm of office space with 321sqm of retail space and two rooftop gardens. This building has been designed with glazed facades with copper-coloured vertical shading blades and micro-cement defining the opaque areas of the facçade at ground level.

Director of Architecture João Fonseca, who is leading the delivery team from Broadway Malyan’s Lisbon studio, said the scheme was designed to create a unique workplace environment that embraces the city’s climate and lifestyle.

He said: “The Expo site is a popular office destination and our aspiration for the EXEO Office Campus was to create a new generation of office buildings that sets a new benchmark for Lisbon with a contemporary design that embraces the needs of the modern workforce.

“Key elements of our two office buildings will be the roof gardens which are essentially an extension of the offices and provide outdoor spaces for relaxing, private work or collaboration while also offering some great views.”

Broadway Malyan has previously designed a number of projects on the former Expo site including Sony’s former Portuguese HQ and the new Moxy Hotel that will be built next to the main Santiago Calatrava-designed rail hub.
