Place-led residential development with a strong sense of community

Wandsworth Council commissioned Broadway Malyan to design a new residential development close to the River Thames and with excellent transport links to central London. Set on a former council depot site with many constraints, the Schoolyard offers 139 apartments split over five medium-rise buildings and one nine-storey tower. The buildings are crisp and simple, clad in London stock brick and with generous, well-proportioned windows.

The scheme offers a range of one, two and three bedroom apartments at both market and affordable rates, with the majority enjoying dual-aspect views. Inset balconies provide apartments with a covered outdoor space. Communal outdoor space is provided by courtyards and pocket parks, which have been created in the spaces between the buildings. These are protected from traffic noise, creating a safe and pleasant landscaped environment for residents and helping to foster a strong sense of community.
