Broadway Malyan was commissioned to provide architectural design services for East Bridge comprising two large plots that form part of a large scale mixed-use development in the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye region. The appointment incorporated the design of a cutting edge, 300m long suspended deck arch bridge. Two low slung and elegant arches help create a simple structure that supports a slender deck profile that delicately crosses the Moskva River. The arches acute incline creates a gravity defying illusion as they smoothly glide up and away from each other before they dramatically swing together and cross, creating a landmark gateway for the wider development. The double arch structure is designed to support four lanes of traffic, two pedestrian/cycle routes and is designed to offer support for any new services running into the development. The double arched structure offers great stability and strength, and its construction of high performance materials requires a significantly reduced maintenance schedule.
