Broadway Malyan's planning and architectural teams worked in a fully integrated way to deliver a planning permission for this development. The site is environmentally constrained being adjacent to a conservation area and opposite two listed churches. It is also in a landmark location being sited on an important traffic interchange. The design evolution involved detailed negotiation with the Local Planning Authority and English Heritage in order to resolve complicated design and planning issues. Broadway Malyan successfully defended an earlier proposal at appeal despite objections from English Heritage and the South East Regional Design Fund. The site now benefits from two planning permissions thus enhancing market flexibility.
