Raffles City Shopping Centre is a sprawling 27,000m² retail mall, spread over four levels. Linked directly to City Hall MRT Interchange Station and the Swiss Hotel, its central location caters to both local shoppers and tourists alike. With the desire to improve the interior quality and shopping experience, Broadway Malyan was appointed by CapitaLand to undertake the upgrading and refurbishment of several interior areas. The initial phase was to redesign and mock-up a prototype restroom. Using the concept of a ‘vanity box’, the quality of materials and ambience reflects a classier and more intimate space. The custom designed entry signage represents a keyhole, unlocking the surprise of the brightly clad feature glass walls within. Materials were chosen to complement the glass, such as timber, quartz stone, and bronze tinted mirrors. In conjunction with the restrooms, Broadway Malyan was also responsible for the re-planning and interior design of the new B1 reconfiguration. The proposed kiosks and seating areas align with the existing structural beams and columns to create a strong brand identity for Raffles City. The new food lounge concept moves away from the typical food court experience, with an attempt to create more intimate mini-restaurant dining.
