Broadway Malyan was appointed by Multi Developments, in conjunction with their in house architects, T&T Design, to design the new Espacio Torrelodones shopping centre in North West Madrid. The 32,000m² retail and leisure centre was opened in 2007 with all 92 units fully let.
The focal point of the development is a 35 metre high tower, designed to resemble the traditional 'paradores'. This tower provides the main entrance to the shopping centre, leading into a large public square from which all areas can be accessed. The food court on the upper floor has terraces with views over Madrid and the surrounding mountains. Natural and locally sourced materials, such as granite, wood and glass, have been used throughout.
