Greenwich Millennium Village forms part of English Partnerships' 121 hectare Greenwich Peninsula site - one of the largest development sites in London and one of Europe's biggest regeneration projects.

Broadway Malyan was appointed to design the remaining three phases of the Greenwich Millennium Village masterplan, comprising up to 1,850 residential units (35% affordable) and community and commercial facilities. Overall density will be in the region of 185 residential units per hectare. Broadway Malyan's scheme completes the community started in the initial phases by providing employment opportunities for residents in the office and light industrial units and by drawing together the community with the provision of the community building and nursery.

Throughout the scheme a variety of building types and forms have been used to articulate public and private spaces. Brickwork, coloured render, timber and zinc cladding will be used to create distinctive identities for each of the individual buildings. Interest and animation will also be created through projecting balconies and roof terraces that overlook public open landscaped spaces and private courtyards. Green roofs and soft landscaping will further enhance the environment of this reclaimed brownfield site. The initial two phases of the development met high standards of sustainability. This has been improved upon in the final phases through the implementation of English Partnerships Millennium Community Standards. As a model for best practice in sustainable design and innovation, the scheme furthermore targets Code for Sustainable Homes Code 5 or better and BREEAM Excellent.
