Broadway Malyan was successful in winning two separate Masterplanning/Architecture and Landscape Architecture/Public Realm competitions organised by Laing O'Rourke on behalf of Southside and City Developments.

We were duly commissioned to develop our ideas for this 25 hectare mixed-use development on the site of the former Vauxhall works in Luton, comprising offices, hotel, casino, formal leisure and 3,000 homes. The landscape and public realm scheme comprises a five hectare public park, two major public squares, linear promenade, residential courtyards and a new station entrance. It features ecological landscape components, land art and a unique lighting strategy.

The masterplan has been awarded planning consent along with the development proposals for the first phases of built development. The project is ongoing and work is commencing on a leisure and entertainment quarter at the far end of the linear park.
