As a key part in the schools sports and education facilities improvements Edinburgh Academy appointed Broadway Malyan in 2008 to provide landscape architecture services for two full size
all-weather hockey pitches for the senior school, at Newfields Pitches in Edinburgh, and one mini pitch for the junior school. The Newfields playing fields are located in a conservation area on the fringes of the Edinburgh New Town ensuring that the planning approvals process was thorough and comprehensive. The pitches include a sand filled and sand dressed playing surface together with perimeter sports fencing, access roads, flood lighting and access and maintenance gates. The completed pitches will provide international standard playing pitches for the Academy and for local Scottish Hockey league clubs. These facilities reinforce The Edinburgh Academy's ability to offer a world class education. Completion due September 2009.
