Broadway Malyan and BP have been partners for 20 years. With projects ranging from fit-outs at Stockley Park, near Heathrow, to work on the Sunbury site, we have immersed ourselves in BP's culture and applied our experience to anticipate their needs.
The regeneration of BP's Sunbury campus is a clear example of the benefits of partnering and continuous improvement. Comprising 45,000m² of commercial offices, the buildings were completed on time, within budget and to an ever-improving construction programme. The brief called for modular buildings to suit BP's rapidly evolving business. These needed to be suitable for sub-letting if necessary, and to symbolise the company's vision for the future. In contrast to the original rambling site of 89 buildings, the Broadway Malyan masterplan accommodates BP's population in 12 airy, light-filled buildings.
The masterplan features a central open space with a water feature creating a high quality, campus style setting for the new buildings. As part of the proposals the busy Chertsey Road, which dissects the site, has been traffic calmed and transformed into a tree-lined boulevard. Contemporary hard landscape finishes and bold planting, using a simple palette of low ground cover with avenues of semi-mature trees, and interior landscaping combine with the hi-tech buildings to create a sustainable, state of the art development.
