Broadway Malyan was invited by Urban Projects Hong Kong (and AXR Design) to assist with a major design competition for a 'fashion park' close to Beijing. The competition submission was successful, beating US architects NBBJ and Epstein International. Fashion Park comprises a prestige 80Ha mixed-use development north of Beijing. The competition proposal was for a Beijing developer, Tai Hong Real Estate, and included a retail/fashion outlet, fashion headquarters, a designer school, a fashion museum, an exhibition area, hotel, conference facilities as well as residential components set within and around a number of parks. The winning design was conceived around textile, fabric and fashion ideas with these being developed into building and landscape forms. The City Government has designated this area as a focus for textile and fashion related businesses.
