Broadway Malyan was commissioned to design a signage and wayfinding strategy and environmental graphics for NEX (Serangoon Mall at North East Xchange), a 6,000m² six level mall with six levels of car park.
This suburban mall acts as a multi-nodal commuter interchange, sitting above entry points for three MRT stations, the onsite bus interchange and the pedestrian bridges across various levels. This complex multiple entry point mall called for a signage system that would not only aid in moving vast amounts of commuters through the space, but would also provide the shoppers and users of the ten screen cineplex, hypermarket, department store and more than 400 speciality shops with clear and concise information, as the site conditions resulted in a unconventional mall street arrangement.
The curvilinear nature of the NEX identity lead the design concept and resulted in the use of a clean colour palette in the colours and materiality.
