background and brief
Broadway Malyan were appointed as Independent Design Consultants for New East Manchester Limited (NEM). NEM is facilitating the regeneration of the East Manchester area. The brief was to work with the Toxteth Street neighbourhood, 1 of 15 neighbourhoods in the NEM Housing Market Renewal area, training and advising the community on all matters relating to the regeneration plans.
The scheme won the Community Consultation award at the 2005 Building Communities Awards, sponsored by Building Magazine.

Broadway Malyan designed a variety of innovative and inclusive methods of consultation and communication, including games, activities, TV and video, and capacity building manuals to ensure that residents were given the opportunity to communicate their thoughts, needs and concerns into the regeneration process.
