background and brief
Broadway Malyan won the worldwide competition for the masterplanning enhancement and landscape design for a new satellite city of 250,000 people to the south of Wuhan in Central China.

design response
The new city, covering an area of 17km2 is located in an area of low-lying lakes and alongside the Yangtze River. The winning design enhanced the current masterplan and proposes a 21st Century waterside city traversed by canals. Key principles relate to place making and sustainability.
The project also includes the design for two major roads and new city parks. The commission has been extended to include six lakes, featuring sustainable waterfront development.
