Valecenter, Venice
design response
The traditional crafts of Venice, such as Murano glass and Burino lace provide the inspiration for the design. The main brand was developed from the ideas of coloured glass overlapping and interacting to create a long panel. The use of stair towers, trolley shelters and entrance boxes clad with coloured polycarbonates and lit internally creates a scattering of coloured glass fragments across the site. Throughout the malls the themes of glass and wood have been joined with the flowing shapes of water.
