Blackpool Council has awarded outline planning permission for 410-home neighbourhood in the heart of Blackpool, with the masterplan, dwelling and landscape design delivered by the Manchester-based team of global architecture, urbanism and design practice Broadway Malyan for client Hollinwood Homes, part of the Marcus Worthington Group. ‘Foxhall Village’ will be built on a 7.2 hectare site across two parcels of land along Rigby Road on either side of Seasiders Way, close to Blackpool FC's stadium, with the scheme set to deliver much-needed new housing for a range of families and smaller households.
The new neighbourhood will be close to the revitalised seafront of Blackpool and is the latest phase of a decade of regeneration and development. The Rigby Road area presents the town’s most strategically important development site for housing-led regeneration within inner Blackpool.
The planning go-ahead will result in the working up of a Reserved Matters application for the initial phase of the scheme, with work expected to start on site in September, delivering 218 new homes by December 2015, and the wider development being delivered over an eight to ten-year timeframe.
