A hugely passionate architect, Matt has been at Broadway Malyan since 2001 and is now the practice's global design lead

As a student he was nominated for the prestigious RIBA Silver Medal and his commitment to quality design continues to this day, believing that better designed buildings and places have many measurable benefits such as improving social integration and productivity, lifting people’s spirits, increasing return on investment and increasing tourism.

Matt, is a Broadway Malyan Holdings Ltd board member and on the Executive Committee, currently leads the practice in the North West and was responsible for a range of award-winning schemes in the region including Islington Wharf in Manchester, the flagship store for Waitrose in Chester and the 2015 RIBA award-winning Mann Island in Liverpool.

Matt is currently Co-Chair of the NWDA ‘Places Matter!’ design review panel and represents the North West as RIBA regional Chair having also sat on the RIBA national council for six years. He also designed and delivered RIBA North, the new national architectural centre in Liverpool, which opened in June 2017.

“Great places are created by responding to the site’s character and by creating buildings which relate to each other to define a meaningful space.”
