Philippines projects recognised in regional awards
15th April 2016

A Broadway Malyan project in the Philippines has won two prestigious awards.

Acqua Private Residences in Manila was voted Best Condo Development in the Philippines and Best Mid-Range Condo Development at the Philippines Property Awards 2016.

The scheme, delivered by Century Properties, comprises six residential blocks focused around a central hub with shared facilities and a retail podium that incorporates a waterfront promenade along the Pasig River.

The design was underpinned by bioclimatic principles to ensure that it functioned well in terms of the local climate. An example of this is the inclusion of sky gardens in each building to reduce the heat island effect, and a number of elements which facilitate the use of natural ventilation and light.

The Commonwealth Residences, which Broadway Malyan also worked on for Century Properties, was highly commended in the Best Mid-Range Condo Development.

Located in Quezon City, it will include the tallest residential skyscraper in the Philippines when it is completed. Like Acqua Private Residences, this design focuses on building performance.

For example, the shape of the balconies has been optimised to deliver an attractive façade while also providing shade from the sun from high impact angles and providing shelter at low levels from heavy rain.

Ian Simpson, director at Broadway Malyan, said: “We have worked with Century Properties on a number of developments in the Philippines and it is fantastic news to see both Acqua Private Residences and Commonwealth Residences recognised for their innovative approach to delivering high quality living space at these scales.”

The Philippines Property Awards 2016 were organised by Property Report, a leading publication for the real estate sector in South East Asia.

It is the fourth year the awards have taken place and the winners were announced at a gala dinner last week at the Fairmont Makati.
