Health City Novena
Broadway Malyan was employed by Tan Tock Seng Hospital to lead the design, detailed masterplanning and strategic healthcare planning for the long-term development of a 14-hectare site at Novena, Singapore.
With the concept and vision for an integrated healthcare city, the Health City Novena masterplan includes the existing hospital building integrated with a new National Centre for Tropical Diseases, an Ambulatory Centre, National Skin Disease Centre, a new medical training school, research centre and community care hub. The design focuses on the creation of a new and improved network of open spaces, maximising the pedestrian connectivity across the site and connecting with the adjacent MRT station.
The primary scope of work included the preparation of a detailed masterplan with phasing until 2030. The first stage included detailed planning of all pedestrian and transport movement, open space planning, parking strategies, massing of all buildings and an environmental analysis. The second phase included detailed development and plot level design guidelines for architecture, landscape architecture and wayfinding.
The project was prepared in line with the BCA Greenmark District Guidelines with the aspiration to create a green and sustainable Health City for the future of Novena and Singapore.
