Broadway Malyan’s 30 Pall Mall scheme in Liverpool has received detailed planning permission, being praised by planners for its “high quality architecture and modern design”.
The £70m scheme, located in the heart of the city’s business district, will open up thousands of jobs in Liverpool, providing 22,000m² of new grade A office space, in what is the city centre’s biggest ever single commercial office development.
The design comprises two separate buildings, one of 8 storeys, the other of 9, with an 18 storey tower, all clad in a three dimensional textured façade. These buildings are linked by a glazed public courtyard, with the development including active ground floor uses such as cafes, restaurants and shops that will spill into this central space. The scheme will achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ energy efficiency rating, with the design utilising natural ventilation through its perforated metal façade and maximising natural light penetration to reduce energy use as much as possible.
The scheme will kick-start the expansion of the area, acting as a catalyst for the regeneration of Pownall Square.
