Broadway Malyan has been appointed by CMLC, Calgary Municipal Land Corporation, to provide masterplanning expertise for the regeneration of East Village in Calgary, Canada.
The project, covering 55 hectares of city centre brownfield land, proposes a sustainable urban living community for up to 12,000 new residents, with a focus on the provision on new arts and cultural facilities. By dissecting the urban grid, a new link between the city and the river frontage has been created. This new urban promenade will be punctuated by innovative streetscape designs and attractive green urban spaces to accommodate street life, events and activities. The proposed diagonal link is also extended via footbridges and tree-lined walks to connect the city with a new multi-use park on an island in the Bow River, and a substantial residential development being built on the north side of the riverbank.
